Last night, sisters found eachother! Our latest new member, Holly (right), was treated by her Big Sister, Shannon, as a welcome to our chorus family. Her Big Sister will be her go-to gal for questions and insights about what makes our chorus run, music and notes, and any other concern she may have about being a Sweet Adeline. Welcome to our chorus, Miss Hollywood!!!

A Sparkling City Chorus quartet proudly sang for the HEB Memorial Day celebration at Robert and Alameda! This is one of the ways we contribute to our community, sharing our skills and talent to upllift crowds in their rememberance of loved ones lost! Thank you, HEB, for letting us share our passion with you in your celebrations!
What a fabulous weekend we had in Houston! The May Music Extravaganza gave us great tips for improving our personal singing skills and to find ways to improve our outreach into the community! We had fun, can't ya tell??
Just Jammin' jammed in Hamlin Pharmacy & Fountain for another fabulous couple hours of spreading barbershop in our community this past Saturday, May 7th. Hamlin Pharmacy & Fountain graciously sports our chorus and quartets from time to time to entertain their patrons. Thank you HP&F for having our Just Jammin' quartet jam your space!
Another great adventure singing for the fabulous audience at the St. Mark's Episcopal Church's Family Christan Music Festival this past Saturday! We were treated wonderfully by the organizers, and truly enjoyed singing for everyone!
Familiar with Speed Dating? Now, apply that to the business world!! I opted to participate in the Chamber of Commerce's Cocktails & Conversation event geared to bringing area business people together to create contacts for needs you didn't know you had! What an exciting time it was to meet with everyone and chat! There's no stuck-on-the-wall-waiting-to-mingle kind of thing like at TV Prom. I met very interesting people doing everything from photography, to hospitality, to insurance, to public service/politics, staffing providers, IT people, and more! I recommend you check out the next one.
So, at last night's rehearsal, we had the lovely Julie and a lovely photographer (sorry, I forgot her name!) from the Caller Times visit us during our rehearsal! They will be spotlighting, this coming weekend, the National Barbershop Quartet Day on Monday, April 11th, and our need for singers to maintain our community involvement. We give our singing services to such organizations and events as Mission of Mercy, FoodBank fundraiser dinner, Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Rotary luncheons, July 4th Celebration at the Art Museum, Angel Tree Ceremony, Young Women in Harmony in the local high schools, nursing homes and retirement centers, and are looking foward to working with local girl scouts to earn the new YWIH Barbershop Scouting Patch.
Another competition down!! Sweet Adelines are well into the season of regional competitions! We attended our Region 10 competition this past weekend in Houston. It was a weekend of beautiful barbershop in which the audience was left in awe as all the songs were sung with greatness! It was so great, there was a tie for first place overall, and that tie was broken by one point!! Amazing!
So, now, our little chorus is stepping up to the battle of growing, getting numbers to build our sound, and make our mark on next year's regional competition! Come, ladies, join us in working towards acheiving that top-notch recognition!
IT'S GREAT TO BE A BARBERSHOPPER!
Well, it was due to unfortunate circumstances that we were not able to have our so anticipated coaching session with the beloved Jo Forbus last weekend. She grew ill a couple days before she was to begin her travels, and had to cancel several events, which included visiting our little chorus. We look forward to the next chance to have our visit from Jo!
